Did you know that there are rewards for donating blood?

12 Oct

Many vets and animal clinics offer rewards for dogs that donate blood…

Some of the rewards that some places offer include…

–       Bags of food and treats

–       Free checkups

–       Free vaccinations

–       Flee, tick and Heart worm prevention tablets

–       Free blood tests

–       Doggie goodie bags

–       The main incentive though – saving the life of another dog!

Enquire with your local vet or animal hospital to learn what they offer.

Wow I had never even thought about dogs donating blood! Very interesting and informative blog, what a great campaign to raise awareness! I’m part of the GiveBloodUNSW Campaign and believe that some type of reward is also a good motivation for humans! Especially UNSW students! For our campaign we have been engaging with our target audience through Facebook, Twitter and our blog. Which platform have you found to be the most successful?

Thanks for the support Erin. It’s great to see a similar campaign. We have found Facebook and WordPress the most successful especially when used together.

Great post! Rewards for dogs that donate blood is something that people definitely need to learn about, as this can act as an incentive for more pet owners to have their dogs donate blood and in turn save dog lives! Do you think that pamphlets at veterinarian clinics would be effective in providing information on these rewards? That way people don’t have to ask, the info is right in front of them.

Hey agenobarrier1, thanks for your comment! Rewards are a great incentive for pet owners. We definitely think it would be a great idea for pamphlets to be a vet clinics – that way when people are waiting around for their dog they can read it! Thanks for commenting.

Hi this is a unique yet informative blogs I’ve ever found. I’m actually a fan of dog myself but am not doing this as my campaign. However, now that I read this comment, I will try to encourage my sister to donate her dog’s blood also to the VET.

    Cheers

Hi Yogo, thanks for checking out our blog. We love to hear when people think our campaign is worthwhile. That would be great news if your sister got her dog to donate blood. Thanks for the support.

I wasn’t aware that dogs could even donate blood let alone get rewarded for doing so! Very informative.

Are they any moral issues about this? I wouldn’t think dogs explicitly give their consent. It seems like it’s not a dog donating its own blood but an owner donating their dog’s blood.
